I learned chord some common chord progressions. Like a 1 4 5 1. These numbers refer to the numbers in a scale. The scale is usually also the key of a certain song. The key determines what chords and notes are played and how you will sing a song.

We can use circle chord progressions to create a progression for a song. It is when the the you play a note then go down five notes and play that note, or play a note and go up four notes and play that one.
